Back!!! Back in Singapore!!! Japan was fun, I have to admit... but then spending so much time with one single work colleague and over ten days I was glad to be back in Singapore and back to my tank technician...

So what can I say about Japan and the four new places I have been to? Well, one is modern, one is fun, one is scenic, one is industrial and one is a good mix of traditional culture and modernism. What cities I am referring to?? Well, I'll leave that to you to sort it out.

Tokyo Bay, Tokyo, Odawara, Nagoya, Osaka

Today, I was at the rather rather wonderful "bade" facility at the Hilton Odawara Resort and Spa. It's really damn cool, cuz there are like 10 different pools, all with different hydrotheraphy qualities. There are indoor pools and there are outdoor pools. There are cold dip pools and warm jacuzzis. Damn damn shiok... dunno how I can go back to the lil jacuzzi at the Caribbean again.

Was in my favourite pool which has deck chairs fitted with hydrotheraphy jets. So it's like a jacuzzi lying down. Anyway, I was just lying down minding my own business when this guy sat down next to me and started talking to me. In Japanese, which I didn't understand. He didn't speak good english too, so it was quite weird. He started asking me things like "whether I am here alone, what I doing here"... etc etc... It was a short chat afterwhich I went to the outdoor pool.

While in the outdoor jacuzzi, he dropped by again and asked whether I am free for dinner... Erm right. It will be a damn awkward dinner right? So I told him I eat very late (cuz Japanese eat early), which kind of put him off. The realisation set in that he is trying to chat me up with the following question... "do you have a boyfriend in sg", to which I answered with a yes immediately, cuz at that point, I dun want to continue the conversation anymore and anyway, it's the truth. Then the next thing he said was "You're beautiful..." Erm, okay. I wanted to laugh. Kind of siam him after that, cuz dun think I want to talk to him anymore. Good thing he didn't stalk me after. Phew.

Anyway, I found out that he is a professional baseball player at Yokohama Baystars. Quite good looking actually, nice built, tanned, well toned. If I may say, he looks a lil like Hidetoshi Nakata. But then I am not wearing glasses so he could be disfigured for all I know and care. :)

I am quite sick of Japanese food already... now I just want to go home and have my Hokkien Mee and Fishball noodles and see my tank technician. :)

Japanese again.

The same shop in Shinjuku, the same faces.

This time the meguro is not as good, but the ika and the salmon and the ikura is as good as ever.

This Japanese ah-pek started talking to me. He is a friend of the chef's as evidenced by the greetings and the free flow beer when he arrived.

He told me that the chef used to work in Singapore as a sushi chef.

He also told me that Singapore is good.

Best thing? He shared with me his sashimi, seeing that I am eating my sushi without the rice. His hoya and his yasui and his meguro. For no reason at all. Simply because we are sitting next to each other and we are talking.

The most surprising thing? He doesn't speak English at all.

That's how far Japanese hospitality goes. :)

So today (well, technically yesterday) is Show-Your-Patriotism aka National Day.

Also known as Propaganda Day.

Passed by Benjamin Shears Bridge just before the parade started. The sea of red is amazing, stretching from Merlion Park to Esplanade Bridge to Esplanade Bay to Marina Bay.

My favourite segments of the NDP??? I really really really like the fact that with the waterbody around the stage, they now can incorporate water performances into the show!!! I love the segment with all the defence vehicles, the Chinook, the Apache (sp?), the tanks, the special ops vehicles, the civil defence vehicles etc etc. I have to say I love watching this display of Singapore's military power. And those guys are very drool-worthy I must say... :P But I still like my tank technician. :)

Like I mentioned in a similar post last year (July 16), NDP is propaganda that works... But still, I would like the watch it live and on the actual day itself for once. For the boys in their no. 1 and their no. 4 AND the fireworks at its full works, if anything!!!! Will someone please get me tickets for next year (Birthday wishlist!!!!!!) please please please??

In other news, I spend a long afternoon at Katong and Marine Parade with my parents, having laksa at one of the famous stalls, and Ya Kun kopi gao (thick) for afternoon "tea" with them. I never knew that my dad likes his kopi gao. *guilty* We contributed to the local economy by indulging in clothes and toys for the youngest people in our (extended) family, we spent time looking at the latest fashion, we ate and we relaxed. :) It was really time well-spent as I realised I have not spent time with them for a long long while. *more guilty, but guilt slightly alleviated*

Now off to bed... Good night folks! :)
