I was just sorting out my music on my computer, and I came across two songs:

Corinne Bailey Rae - Put Your Records On
Corinne Bailey Rae - Trouble Sleeping

The thing is, the moment I played these two songs, I just felt as though I was transported back to Surrey, in the hot summer night (or wee hours of the morning), with the windows open, with this song playing on my lappie, with me just chilling in my room.

What was I doing? Probably packing, or probably just lying on my bed listening and chilling out and thinking. Thinking of all sorts of things, of the summer, of my impending departure, of things going on in my life, of the future, of what holds for me.

Somehow, these two songs seemed to have become the definitive songs of that summer. Not sure whether those memories are happy or sad. But definitely memories that I want to hold on to though.

I miss Surrey.

23 November 2006

Important Date!!!!!

Because I became the proud owner of a qualified driver's licence!!!

I got a test route which I like because it has no u-turn, but hate too because there is a downhill slope and two uphill slopes.

And I thought I was going to fail because I could not lane change to the right, and ended up in the middle lane and thought I was going to fail for "failure to form up correctly".

In the tester's room following the test, the tester went on talking about the technique into making that lane change and the acceleration up the slope. I was paying attention, honestly, and mentally preparing myself to accept a fail. Until he totalled up everything and ticked the passed box. From then on, both he and I know that I wasn't paying attention anymore, because I cannot stop smiling.

But you know what?

When I left BBDC after the test, I couldn't help but felt a tinge of sadness, because I don't need to come back here anymore... and I know that I will somehow miss the routine of going for lesson, doing the usual stuff. Because am much as I complain about my instructors, they are quite endearing people actually. Yes, people like the Mr Au (aka A, aka ice man), Mr Ho (aka B), Mr Woo (actually the most reassuring one among the three). Actually I will miss Mr Au's pretty face and his vanity, as much as I complain about it. And his icy front actually did prepare me for the tester's curt remarks. Ai yah, separation anxiety kicking in here.

But anyway, the most important thing here is, I Passed! :)

I have not posted for a long long time... what has happened?

Hmm... I went back to work on a Saturday for the first time in my working life.

What else... been having loads of fun. Trying out new stuff. :)

And I travelled!!!

Yes! Once again, this time to a place where I was supposed to have gone 14 years ago, but didn't in the end...

I will let the pictures of the Island of the Gods do the talking... there are way too many pictures to put up... I can only do a selection...

The Arrival in the Room - Ritz Carlton

With a Bath specially drawn for you

And a view from the room as gorgeous as this

And an entrance (albeit a different hotel) that looks like this

And another completely different arrival such as this, into the valley of a rainforest...

It can only be Bali.

Went out with the girls today... Intention was to go cycling, and to be honest, I find it funny that I, the one who cannot cycle ends up organising a cycling trip. Anyway, venue was changed from East Coast Park to West Coast Park cuz all of us live in the West anyway.

Reached West Coast Park and then realised that there wasn't actually a bicycle rental shop there! Which is weird, considering that it is such a big park (50 hectares!)! haha, so ended up walking the length of it and just talking and taking photos.

And it was a good exercise, it was a good chat, it was a good laugh with these two girls, two of my favourite persons in the world:

Me, Becki and Rena (Corinne is missing in action)

I find it amazing that we are interacting now even more than before. Before work, we were only meeting like once a month or even less. Now that we started work, I suppose because of the close proximity of our offices, we are now meeting nearly twice every week! Not that I mind though! :)

Driving tomorrow! Yay! :)

Have not posted for a long while!!! Wow! Probably longest record of inactivity!!!! Not much going on anyway, other than loads of work, and loads of other stuff, and even more work.

Anyway, Corinne May's Christmas Concert on 16 December! Hands up for those who wanna go!!! Having missed her National Day Eve Concert last year, I am SO not going to miss this. (And I really hope I am not travelling on this date!)

Another sign of too much work, is when you start planning for Christmass/New Year at the beginning of November... Planning to get away somewhere! Hands up once again, for those who are interested! :)

Driving Tomorrow!!!! :)
