I went for the Pre-Departure Seminar last Saturday. It've been 4 years ago since I went for my own. That was at Orange, the now-defunct club at Mohd Sultan Road.

Anyway, even though I have graduated, I did promise I would go and off I went. There are 7 new students in this years' intake. All direct entry 2nd year. Among them, 4 are going into Management school.

I can't help it, but I do feel sad about not flying back this September. I was once like this newbies 4 years ago, and now I am "seasoned". I was somewhat jealous of Terrence and Jon who would be flying back. I really really felt the sadness that that part of my life is now over.

And I need to learn to move on.

I've changed my blog song. If you use Firefox, you probably can't hear it. Open your IE for this. This song is actually composed in 1988 for National Day. I have never heard of it till this year. I actually really really like this song because it reminds me of my Camp Singapore kids, as they performed this song for the closing ceremony celebrations, and I learnt the song and dance moves with them.

Fooling Around Backstage Before Their Performance

It's been 4 days since Camp Singapore have ended. And I have to say,

I MISS MY KIDS!!!!!

After spending 10 days with them, everyday from 9am to 5pm, they have all became family and more. Little kids to take care of, to discipline, to teach. Even though some of these kids are spoilt brats, they are have that innocence that allows them to view the world with wonder, rather than the cynicism and jadedness present in some of us. Reminds me of the times when I was young. And how I wish to be like one of them again.

Sigh.

I miss them...

Benita and I. Probably the one I miss most. So cute and adorable, yet mischievious and playful. This photo is taken by her dad, so here she looks like a little angel. Normally she looks like this...

This is her "threatening" look.
;)

This is my group, Group 5. They are the oldest of the entire camp. With most of them being either 11 or 12. I used to lament the fact that I am taking care of the oldest group. However, it was a blessing, as these kids are the oldest, and they know what they can and cannot do, so I dun need to "mother" them, unlike the rest of the smaller groups.

Practising for their closing ceremony performance. I know some of the counsellors actually cried when seeing the actual performance. It's as though, our kids have grown up!! So Proud of them! And some of them actually look really pro!!!

And all good things must come to end. I miss all of you kids....

Woah, such a big piece of news that I just have to write about it!!!

SIA orders 20 A350 XWB-900s and 6 A380, and leases 20 A330-300s

And after all those delays with A380s, I thought SQ has lost faith with Airbus, and this order is certainly not expected. And of course, Airbus has to end the Farnborough Air Show with a big bang by announcing this order. Amazing.

This order is in addition to the Boeing order they had earlier this month! That is a lot of new aircrafts coming up!

With this order SQ is moving from a fleet of 777, 747 and 345 to 747,777,787,330,345,350,380. That is a huge change, but then SQ is busy renewing its fleet, retiring some of the older 747s and 777s, hence the expected fleet would be 777, 787, 345 (which some predicted may be traded for the 777LRs), 350, 380.

Yay, more aircraft types, more fun in taking SQ planes! :)

A Review of the unofficial NDP Preview -

It's not that actual NDP Preview, but really a full dress rehearsal, but the atmosphere was nonetheless unbeatable, as all the primary 5s attended this rehearsal.

A lot of laughter, a lot of fun, a lot of singing, a lot of shouting!!! Kids are really really good at screaming!!! Especially MGS Primary kids!!! Camp S'pore ended up sitting in front of them and they gave our 7- and 8-year-olds a shock with their loud screaming!!

NDP is in itself, propaganda. The govt doesn't even attempt to hide it. It's not called the NDP Preview or full dress rehearsal. Today's show is actually called the NE (National Education) Show. However, I dunno what it is about NDP, the atmosphere, the cheering, the songs that really make me feel proud to be Singaporean again. It doesn't feel weird at all to be singing the pledge and Mejurah Singapura 5 years after leaving JC. And I am also quite amazed that I remember the words!!! :D And not embarrassed at all to sing it loud and clear. Well, I have to as well, one of the other volunteers, Elizabeth, she's German, and she can sing our anthem, how embarrassing would it be if I can't, but I wasn't afraid that I would sing out of tune or forget the words, I just sang without holding back. ;)

NDP is really propaganda which works. :)

Sometimes life just put you into contact with the most interesting people.

I received some very wise advice and life lessons from the most unlikely of source today.

It certainly made my day. :)

Off to watch the NDP Preview with Camp Singapore!!! :)

I've spent SO MUCH money in the past week it's scary.

I must constantly remind myself that it is money WELL SPENT.

G2000 and U2 are starting their end of season sales from tomorrow. I wanna get more work-ie trousers and skirts, in preparation for working life, which is really the rest of my life right?

But the flesh and mind are willing, but the wallet is weak.

Sigh.

Sigh... Such a great player, such a sad ending.

Well, at least he got the Golden Ball Award right?

One thing I found interesting in this report I was reading...

"Semi-finalists Portugal won Fifa's most entertaining team award."

Yeah right, how can this be possible? Entertaining for what? For their stupid antics, for their simulation, for their diving.

One month of football. One month of late nights. Normal service resumes tonight.

I seem to be suffering from a delayed case of teenage angst.

I am getting fustrated over small little things. I am getting angry and pissed off at being questioned over everything. The funny thing is, I never felt this during my teenage years. They never question me in my teenage years. They pretty much left me to my own devices. Those complaints that my friends had of their parents? I never understood, cuz I never had them in the first place.

So why the questioning now?

I mean, I have been aboard for 4 years already. Surely 4 years is enough for them to know that I can take care of myself. I have made countless decisions on my own and the decisions I make back in Singapore are not any bigger than the decisions I make in UK.

So why the fuss??

And when I get questioned too much, I get angry and fustrated. And then I will feel guilty for raising my voice at them.

Argh. So what can I do?

Nothing. Either keep it in me, and just shut up. Or show my fustration and then feel guilty afterwards.

Either way, it is a lose-lose situation.

This sucks.

Shoes shoes shoes. Those who know me well enough would know that one of my greatest indulgences in life is shoes. And bags. Anyway, that's besides the point. I mean, I had 11 pairs of shoes in UK alone. 3 pairs of track shoes, 4. pairs of boots, 2 pair of formal shoes, 1 pair of sandals, and 1 pair of slippers. Actually brought back 9 of them to Singapore (with protests from my mum, who argued that two of my track shoes are so old that to be seen in them in public is embarrassing).

And since I am back, all I wanna do is buy shoes and more shoes and more shoes. Along the Ngee Ann City-Wisma stretch, it's really difficult to avoid a shoe shop. There's Novo, URS & Inc, Pretty Fit, Pazzion, Everbest, Charles and Keith, not forgetting Taka and Isetan as well. So that is a lot of shoe shops. And with the hot weather here, I need more sandals than closed toe shoes. And being back permanently means that my wanting to get more sandals is justified. =)

Then again, the fact that I am currently income-less right now means that whatever I buy now is an outflow from my account with no corresponding inflow. Which is kind of bad. Add to that my other major expenses right now means a LARGE outflow of funds with no inflow. V. V. Bad.

Hence the need to resist all shoe temptations right now, until I get my first proper pay cheque. Then I can happily go satisfy my shoe craving!!!! =)

I have been contemplating starting a new blog for a very long time. In fact, I had this address since September 2003. However, for some reason I did not switch over.

Well, I guess the completion of my studies in UK could not be a better time to start afresh. So, here we are.

I was in 2 minds about returning back to SIN. I mean, 4 years away, living the overseas student life, it's kind of addictive. The independence, the freedom, not having to report to anyone, being able to do anything I like. I really (* a billion) enjoyed my times in Guildford.

But I guess all good things come to an end. And change is the only constant. *Blah blah blah* *Insert any other familiar sounding sentences here*

And so here I am, back in Singapore. Back in the sweltering heat typing this post. (FYI, London was just as hot as here, in fact hotter than Singapore on the day I returned).

Welcome Me Back to Singapore. To the Rest of my Life. :)
