Langkawi was my first resort destination. I have never been a resort person, never been one to lie around and laze away. Cities are more my kind of thing, I reckon. The culture, the food, the hustle and bustle of the locals, I just wanna go out and explore what there is to offer, rather than sit and lie around.

But I discovered that sometimes lying around and spa-ing the day away (in Hwei Shan's sister's words) and just enjoying the see breeze and the roar of the waves may not be that bad after all...

I'll let the pictures do the talking...

A plate of local fruits greeted me on my arrival...

Together with this box of chocolate pralines... The heart-shaped chocolate box (and lid) is made of chocolate too!!!

Beautiful lilies dotted around the resort... did you know that they close in the afternoon and reopen again at night?

Sigh... isn't this beautiful? Datai Beach.

Pantai Cenang (Cenang Beach) - all 1.5km of it, just for the resort alone...

Sunset while having dinner....
Going...

Going...

Gone....

One of the best dinner I ever had... not because of the food, but the beautiful sunset...

Blogger's really slow. Won't let me upload my Langkawi pictures. Hmph.

Anyway, went driving today. Got the Ice Man (also known as A) again. Quite pissed off, cuz I was expecting it to be my favourite instructor (otherwise known as B), but it wasn't. Ice Man wasn't vain today though. Never once did I see him examine his face. Miracles do exist! ;) Nonetheless, had fun driving though. I dunno whether it was because of the driving or was it because it was a lesson (like in school), but i enjoyed myself thoroughly.

Hmm... maybe I feel that I have progressed today, that's why I'm happy. :) We'll see!

I went to VivoCity on its opening day after swimming at the Caribbean, and there were a lot of things to get me excited. It looks like some of the really nice brands in UK have decided to follow me back into Singapore!!! Yay!!! Introducing:

Ted Baker, one of the top British designers with very wearable clothes (as opposed to clothes that you only expect people on the catwalk to wear), both formal and casual. Besides being well known for the quality and designs of its clothes, Ted Baker is also known for absolutely hilarious and outrageous window fronts. Let's hope that the Singapore branch, Ted's first branch in Asia maintain the status quo!!!

Principles, another London brand, is known for its professional workwear. Its best seller range is its petite range for those 160cm and below (I normally wear Petite range clothes in UK). Utterly pretty and flatting clothes, what more can I say. Principles was already open in Vivocity, and I have to say I saw SO MANY ITEMS that I already want. They are operated by the Robinsons Group (so can use Robinsons Card and get rebate!)

River Island, of a slightly lower price range as compared to the abover two, is targeted towards the younger crowd. It has one of the nicest clubbing and casual wear in the (UK retail) market. Its shoewear range is also much coveted. I love this brand so much, but u know what, the only thing I have bought from River Island is a pair of track pants, which is kind of ironic. Having said that, I love that pair of track pants, and have received many compliments (yes, about those track pants). However, the first River Island branch in Singapore is only opening in January 07, they really stand to lose out on the novelty crowd which will travel all the way to Harbourfront from all over Singapore to visit Singapore's largest mall.

And finally, not in Vivocity, but on Robinson Road, I saw this while in a cab:

While not the actual shop, but a boarded-up shop saying: Pret is coming your way soon!!! Yay! My favourite sandwich shop is coming to Singapore!! In Robinson Road no less!!! Can't tell you how excited I am about that. They have the best sandwiches, and the best salads, and I tell you, the variety in a Pret is enomous. Sushi, no bread sandwich, normal sandwiches, rye sandwiches wraps, baguettes, SlimPret, soup, museli, cakes, fruits, and their countless types of beverages, you name it, they most probably have it. I have not tried every item on the menu, but I intend to, one day. :) I love it so much that I actually bought a sandwich from Pret back to Singapore in June!

Definitely a UK invasion!!! FDI (foreign direct investment) from the UK is definitely going up!

Kuala Lumpur. To be honest, I don't think I can tell you A LOT about KL, this place I was at from Wednesday to Saturday.

However, I certainly can tell you a lot about the hotel I've stayed in. I've been raving about it since I've checked in, since I got back etc etc...

Here's a pictorial review...

The Arrival

Very very very comfy (I was given a twin
instead of a king cuz they ran out of King rooms - 98% occupancy for Ramadaan!)

Bathroom with personal window and (out of the picture) built-in TV in the mirror for you to catch up on news while brushing your teeth.

That is a 56-inch plasma TV. A DVD player was also provided. Damn pretty

400-foot freeform swimming pool! Feels like you're in a resort, but no, you're on the 8th floor in a busy city centre

Room Service Breakfast - Belgian Waffles with fresh fruits.

The hotel exterior

With its next door neighbour - the Le Meridien Kuala Lumpur. Also another very beautiful building. While Hilton KL was happening and sexy, the Le Meridien was elegent and classy.

Just on a sidenote, my colleague and I were out in Bukit Bintang and I saw a familiar icon and for nostalgia's sake, I went there for dinner.... And I took Extra Hot which is hotter than I remembered!

Finally the beauty that took me home...

And another beauty that I saw while in KLIA.
